It’s a fact that the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment in the U.S. is currently BOTOX®. When it comes to dentistry, BOTOX® provides proven therapeutic uses to treat a number of conditions, including gummy smiles, teeth clenching, and various symptoms of TMD.

At White Smiles Family Dentistry here in Spring Lake Park, Minnesota, our team knows that there’s much more to a beautiful smile than simply healthy teeth. Our professional dentists have a deep understanding of facial structures and can help you achieve not only the smile you’re dreaming of, but also a younger look while relieving the painful conditions that can be triggered by the jaw muscles.

As an FDA-approved cosmetic treatment, BOTOX® is proven to be both safe and effective for dentists. We regularly implement this safe treatment into dental care services for patients who can benefit from it. BOTOX® can result in a smoother, younger appearance after even a single quick office visit. Patients who want longer-lasting results can consult with Dr. White about injectable fillers, such as JUVÉDERM®.

What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is a safe purified protein used effectively to relax muscles of the face, correct existing lines, and prevent additional wrinkles from developing. It decreases the activity levels of muscles known to cause wrinkles, including frown lines and crow’s feet. In addition, BOTOX® offers therapeutic benefits for correcting migraine headaches, gummy smiles, and the pain and discomfort that come from TMD and Bruxism.

BOTOX® works by temporarily blocking signals nerves send to the muscles, thus reducing muscle movement and letting wrinkles soften and relax. In addition, experienced injectors use BOTOX® to lift up regions of the face, as well as to extend the life of dermal filler applications. Quick-acting BOTOX® yields results that are visible within 3 to 5 days, and they last for approximately 3 to 6 months.

BOTOX® works well alone, or it can be effective when used with other treatments.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Gel-like substances injected into areas around the mouth and nose, dermal fillers effectively replace the natural substances found in our facial skin that are lost due to the aging process. These fillers can reverse many of the signs of aging by reducing, or even eliminating, wrinkles around your smile. They lift the corners of your mouth, enhance your lips, and replace any volume loss of soft tissues.

It’s certainly possible, safe, and acceptable to use JUVÉDERM® and BOTOX® treatments simultaneously. These treatments target different parts of your facial skin, so it’s completely safe to use them at the same time.
